Arriving in Haiti

We landed safely here in PAP. The temp here iis humid near 100. Getting our 9 boxes of medical supplies was interesting but the Haitians are very willing to help. Once we began our way out of the airport we were overwhelmed by many many more Haitians wanting our help or maybe a tip. Linnea is the clinical coordinator who treated us she is with leap and also cliff who is our helper/ translator. We regroup at the trucks and off we go to see two patients at a local hospital named espoir or hope in English. Sky is getting very dark. Driving thru pap was a lot like parts of Mexico but with hundreds of people on the street afraid to go inside. Concrete everywhere. Starting to drizzle, black sky. Arrived at hospital most patients in tents outside with internal fixation devices holding bone. Plan is to operate on one the patients Thursday and transfr her to Adventist where we will be most the day. Pooring rAin streets r starting to flood. Boxes soaked in back of pickup Heading toward house. Driving up a very steep mountain too dark to really see much. Motorcycles driving without lights down this hill with crazy rain. Truck is stuck can't get through the wasting dirt gravel road. Saved by our other team mates who made it house. House is a nice flat, clean, and it's cool in the hills. Guard outside all night. We r all drenched. Unpacking ... They have sheets and pillows! Bug tents r up, dinner is served and made by Gerda saucy chicken rice beans fried plantains. Linnea and cliff off to store to get groceries and BEEr! Lynne went to bed. 450,000 Haitians living in tents still. Planning our day tomorrow, dr. Chin planning the week ahead.
